A locals favorite, Viva Fine Foods and Bakery offers up a massive selection of food, with some awesome drinks. Couple this with outstanding staff as well an amazing location and you have one of my favorite coffee shops in Kitsilano. They’re even open on Christmas day!
Coffee
12oz Latte – $3.65
OK, I’m a sucker for a proper cappuccino cup and saucer, so I was a bit let down when my latte was served in a mug, but that’s where the disappointment ended. The latte was perfectly balanced; the milk was textured perfectly and the temperature was excellent. I would say this is up there with one of the best lattes I’ve had in Kitsilano.
A great addition to drinks lineup are a selection of freshly pressed juices.
Food
Chicken Pot Pie
Delicious! Great taste to the filling, not too rich and a decent amount of chicken in it. The pastry was soft and flaky.
Breakfast Sandwich
Mrs Vancouver Coffee Snob claims this is her favorite in town! Having eaten these a few times I can say they’re always cooked perfectly and the fillings are delicious – masterfully cooked egg, delicious bacon and crisp tomato.
The rest of the menu is extensive – multiple types of pastries (both savory and sweet), cookies, cakes, baguettes and a plethora of other items.
Location
You’d be hard pressed to find a better location in Kitsilano; steps from the beach, plenty of public transport to get you there and an abundance of on street parking.
Venue
It’s not a huge venue and as such it’s fairly limited for seating. The patio in the front of the cafe is by far my favorite place to sit, as there’s always an assortment of entertaining canines to meet!
Bathrooms
Clean, well maintained and full of pictures of dogs!
Staff
Always, always great. The staff at Viva Fine Foods and Bakery are always welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. There’s always a smile and a thank you whenever I’ve been there.
